Li Zhen Tan
APACC has a long relationship with Li Zhen Tan as her children attend APACC’s youth program. Since the beginning of this relationship we have assisted this client with numerous social services but most recently Li Zhen has been on her journey for housing assistance. APACC’s role has been in helping Mrs. Tan with navigating the online portals and the numerous requirements needed to apply for low-income housing. APACC guided her through each step and showed her how to save her personal information to make future applications quicker and more efficient.
With this education after a few visits with APACC, Mrs. Tan began applying for housing on her own and, with the skills we taught her, she also learned how to check the lottery results independently. With her youth also in APACC’s programming trained as digital navigators, she could seek assistance from them at home if needed.
Additionally, APACC assisted Mrs. Tan and her parents apply for Section 8 housing. Due to the large amount of required information, she had difficulty entering all the details correctly. After completing the application, we taught her how to check the status of the results. She confidently shared that she now knows how to check for updates herself and can even help her parents do the same.
Later, she returned to our center and shared:
"APACC’s programming is important to me and my family as I would not be able to navigate these online sites without guidance, and their staff have made it easier for me to understand and even spent the time to teach me how to apply for housing on my own. Their staff having open office hours also make it easy for me to approach them on my terms when I need help to make sure that I can meet any housing application deadlines before it is too late. I am very grateful for APACC as a whole as they have assisted me, my children in the youth programming as well as my parents."
Mario Diaz
Mario Diaz mentioned how APACC has helped him with his job search which consists of filling out the applications online, sending resumes and background checks. He stated that the reason he comes to APACC is because he has no internet access at home and his phone is not compatible which means he can only use it to send emails.

Mario mentioned that he was referred to our program from another organization. Instantly he felt comfortable with our staff since we have open availability and don’t ask a multitude of questions in regards to helping clients. He really appreciated the courtesy and the time the staff took to help him out during his job search or trying to apply for other public benefits. Mario would like to share how he appreciates APACC and the staff for taking the time to help him with the services.

Quote from Mario,
“I really appreciate APACC’s staff because they put the effort and time into helping me with my services”.

Kam Ming Chan
“I really appreciate that APACC taught me a lot about technology. As a senior, I struggle to learn how to use my phone and computer effectively. However, every time I come to seek help, APACC staff are patient and willing to teach me, which also reinforces my passion for learning technology,” said Kam Ming Chan, one of APACC’s clients who seek help from APACC on a consistent basis.

Kam Ming has sought out APACC needing assistance from us to search for information online. He recently bought a new laptop since he believes it can make his life easier. The first thing he wants to learn is how to transfer photos from his phone to the laptop, so we explained the process in detail to him. Before he bought a laptop, he would always need our help to search for information on the internet. However, he is now able to do that on his own after we taught him how to use the search engine. Kam Ming continues to drop by our open office hours to continue seeking tech support and increasing his knowledge of basic computer/smart device skills.
